BMC Hongian Ffest a’r Daith / On Tour – Bethesda 2026
Back in 2015, the Hongian youth climbing project began in two quarry communities: Blaenau Ffestiniog and Bethesda. What started as a grassroots project to get young people climbing has grown into BMC Hongian Ffest, a bilingual climbing and outdoor festival rooted in North Wales’ quarry landscapes.

For 2026, Hongian is going on tour.

This year the festival heads to Bethesda, returning to one of the places where the Hongian story began. Surrounded by the slate landscapes of Dyffryn Ogwen and a strong local climbing culture, it’s a great setting for a weekend of climbing and time out in the hills together.

We’re looking forward to bringing Hongian back to Pesda and celebrating the climbing culture that helped shape the project.

Join us on Friday night from about 7pm at Neuadd Ogwen for a relaxed evening of short climbing films by Doylo, a sofa pow-wow and live music. We’ll be showing a selection of short climbing films, with a chance to share stories and connect with the community. …along with a chilled acoustic set from Lewis Perrin. A perfect way to start the Hongian weekend.

Saturday night @ 7:30pm – Join us as we celebrate an evening of climbing and music with Hongian through film, chat and tunes.

Followed by premiers of short films by Mimi White and Huw James following Osian Parry and Calum Muskett as they develop new routes in the area.
This will be followed by a Q&A with local climber and musician Osian Parry sbinning some Reggae to close the evening.
