North Wales Caribbean Fingerpost, as part of the Ogwen River Festival, presents:
2pm – 3 Artists and their work, presenting a gallery and their inner thoughts’throughout the afternoon
5pm – Artists’ personal presentations
Gareth Griffith, local artist with Jamaican experiences.
Audrey West, Jamaican artist and poet.
Wanda Zyborska, Art creator and activist.
Through the afternoon from 2pm we have an African fabric display
4.30pm – African people explain tribal costume and fabric patterns, presented by Somoye’tolani and friends.
6pm – Filmshow (‘shorts’ and a documentary) followed by a Discussion, Q and A session with a panel made up of the artists and special guests.
Subject matter: Print on fabric, Identity art, Music of the Caribbean and ‘Why Black History is important to me’ plus ‘Sin Bin Liverpool 8’
The above presentations are in support of Bethesda’s Ogwen River Festival and Black History Month events. This event will launch this year’s Black History Wales 365, an initiative that ensures that learning about Black history takes place throughout the year. All of the above is in conjunction with assistance of the staff at Neuadd Ogwen and Race Council Cymru.
