MR, Derrero & Orinj @ Market Hall, Caernarfon
MR (Mark Roberts)
Having cut his teeth singing and playing guitar in one of the best Welsh language bands ever, Y Cyrff, in the late 1980’s – early 90’s, Mark Roberts went on to form Catatonia, who released a succession of critically acclaimed albums and top ten chart singles which set them up as one of the most iconic Welsh bands of the late 90’s.
The century turned and Mark continued to make music with Sherbet Antlers, Y Ffyrc and The Earth. His new album ‘Misses’ was released on the 9th June.
Derrero
Celebrated Welsh band Derrero continue an unstoppable 26-year trajectory with a rare appearance in support of their current album ‘Curvy Lines’.
The members of Derrero all met at Falmouth Art College in 1993: after studies, they evolved in Brighton before settling in Newport, Wales. They have released 5 critically acclaimed albums and toured with the likes of Super Furry Animals, Catatonia, Sebadoh and Granddaddy, collaborating on the film ‘Beautiful Mistake’ with John Cale and recording three sessions for John Peel.
Maintaining a resolutely DIY approach to music making Derrero are a strident and confident band who remain steadfastly unafraid to swim against the tide and self-produce and self-release uncompromising music outside of the mainstream.
Orinj
Formed in Bethesda, Orinj have been steadily building a strong fan base throughout North Wales and over the border into Liverpool & Manchester. They released their debut album ‘How Do You See The World?’ in 2021 and come keenly endorsed by David Fielding from The Chameleons.
